Working outward from Fraser

Fraser is small. It covers a little over four square miles in south Macomb County, so the edge of the city is never far from our door on Janet Ave. Most of our calls come from Fraser itself and the four communities that share a border with it: Clinton Township, Roseville, Warren and Sterling Heights. Those are the pages listed first below.

The next ring is still close enough for regular work. It runs east to St. Clair Shores and Harrison Township on Lake St. Clair, south to Eastpointe and Center Line, and north through Mount Clemens, Macomb Township, Shelby Township, Utica and Chesterfield Township. Each city page covers the housing, water and sewer issues that come up there, which services get called for most, and the roads between that city and our office.

How scheduling works across south Macomb County

Calls are scheduled by how urgent the problem is and where the house sits. Active leaks, sewer backups and frozen lines get handled ahead of planned work. Planned jobs like a water heater swap, a repipe or a sewer replacement get booked for a day that leaves time for the permit and the inspection in that city. Every city on this page runs its own building department, so the permit office changes when you cross a border, even when the house looks the same.

If your city isn't on the list, call (207) 419-2600 anyway and ask. Coverage depends on the job and the day.

What each city page covers

Every city page starts from the houses there: when most of them were built, what that usually means for supply pipe and sewer laterals, and what the census shows about rentals and condos. It adds the water and sewer system the city uses, its lead service line inventory where one is published, flood history from the Clinton River or Lake St. Clair, and the building office that issues plumbing permits. Then it lists the plumbing work that comes up most there and the roads between that city and our office on Janet Ave.

Questions about plumbing service around Fraser

Which office issues the plumbing permit for my city?

Your own city or township does, not Fraser. Fraser's Building Department is at 33000 Garfield Rd, Warren's Building Division is at One City Square, Sterling Heights runs permits through its Office of Building at 40555 Utica Rd, and Clinton Township's Building Department is at 40700 Romeo Plank Rd. Each city page names the office for that place.

Does my city get the same water as Fraser?

Most of south Macomb County does. Fraser, Roseville, Sterling Heights and Clinton Township buy Great Lakes Water Authority water from the Lake Huron and Northeast plants. Mount Clemens is the exception: it still treats Lake St. Clair water at its own plant and has voted to move to GLWA. That changes hardness and lead-line inventories city by city.

Who owns the sewer line between my house and the street?

In most of these cities the homeowner does, all the way to the main. Fraser and Warren both put the full lateral on the owner, and St. Clair Shores notes the line can run across the street to reach the main. Check your city page before any digging, because the permit and the right-of-way rules follow ownership.

What if my city isn't listed on this page?

Call (207) 419-2600 and ask. The pages here cover Fraser, the four cities that touch it and the next ring out to the lake and the northern townships. Coverage beyond that depends on the job and the day, and we'll tell you on the phone whether it makes sense.
